Paycasso’s entrance into the world was anything but routine. He was positioned upside down during a difficult delivery and required immediate veterinary care after birth. While remaining at the hospital, he contracted rotavirus and became seriously ill, spending his earliest days in the hospital’s isolation wing before he was finally well enough to come home.

He recovered and developed into an athletic, expressive young horse with a bold personality and a strong connection to people.

Paycasso completed his first approximately 60 days of training under saddle in early 2026 before returning home for 106 days of turnout, rest, growth, and recovery. During that break, he was gelded and underwent additional screening X-rays so his development could be monitored carefully.

On August 3, 2026, Paycasso returned to training. His current work is focused on light jogging, rebuilding fitness, and gradually preparing his bones, muscles, balance, and supporting structures for more demanding exercise.

He remains months away from racing, but his return to the track marks the beginning of the next major chapter in his story.

Dam: Empress Luciana, by Stay Thirsty
Born: April 16, 2024

Caesar entered the world through an emergency C-section and is the first and only foal of Empress Luciana. His dramatic delivery helped inspire his registered name, Emperor Caesarion, and both mare and foal required significant veterinary care before they were able to leave the hospital.

Caesar has since grown into an exceptionally tall, substantial young Thoroughbred with an independent personality and a calm confidence. By the summer of his two-year-old year, he was already approximately 16.3 hands.

As a yearling, Caesar was diagnosed with OCD fragments in both stifles and underwent arthroscopic surgery. He recovered successfully, completed his first approximately 60 days of training under saddle in early 2026, and then returned home for 106 days of turnout, rest, and continued development.

During that break, Caesar was gelded and underwent additional X-rays to monitor the previous surgical sites and his response to training. With the areas healing well and his previously noted mild sesamoiditis cleared, he returned to training on August 3, 2026.

His initial work will remain light and progressive as he rebuilds fitness and continues maturing. Like Paycasso, Caesar is still several months away from racing, but he is now moving forward on the path toward his first start.

Lady Calliope, known as Callie, is Dyana’s second foal and a full-circle continuation of one of the foundational families at Horse Husband Stables.

Her first weeks required significant support. Callie was born with contracted front legs and lax hind fetlocks, initially making it difficult for her to stand independently. She wore supportive wraps and braces and received her earliest nutrition through a feeding tube until she gained enough strength to nurse on her own.

She later spent a week in the hospital after developing a high fever related to a viral illness, but recovered fully.

Today, Callie is a thoughtful, social filly who often studies a situation before deciding how she wants to participate. She increasingly reminds us of her mother in both expression and personality, while still becoming unmistakably her own horse.

Recent screening X-rays identified a developmental DIRT lesion in one hock. Callie is not currently lame or showing discomfort, but we are considering routine arthroscopic surgery this fall so the area can be addressed before she begins more demanding training.

Dam: Elusive Surprise, by Elusive Quality
Born: March 13, 2025

A Dozen and Won, known as Thirteen, is the thirteenth and final foal out of Elusive Surprise.

His dam joined Horse Husband Stables in foal with a clear plan already in place: she would deliver this colt, retire from breeding, and then transition into permanent sanctuary care through Mareworthy Charities.

Thirteen was quick to stand and nurse and showed an independent, problem-solving personality from the beginning. Although he required hospitalization twice during his early months, he recovered well and continued developing alongside the other yearlings.

He is observant, curious, and mentally active, often taking time to understand a situation before responding.

His recent developmental X-rays remained clean, and there is currently no orthopedic intervention planned for him. He continues growing as a potential racehorse while carrying forward the final chapter of his dam’s breeding career.

Born: April 9, 2025

Audacious Whysper, known as Whysper, was bred by our friends at Whysper Wynd Farm, who generously gifted My Audubon to Horse Husband Stables while she was carrying her. Her registered name honors the farm whose planning and generosity made her possible.

Whysper’s delivery was uncomplicated, but within her first thirty minutes of life she fell beneath her dam and sustained fractured ribs. She spent her first two weeks on stall rest so the fractures could heal without displacement and made a full recovery.

Initially cautious and reactive around people, she has steadily become more confident, social, and people-focused. She has also developed a close bond with Callie, and the two are now frequently found moving, resting, and exploring together.

Recent screening X-rays identified a developmental DIRT lesion in one hock. Whysper is not currently lame or uncomfortable, but we are considering routine arthroscopic removal this fall before she begins more demanding work.

Her story continues to reflect what patience, thoughtful handling, and time can accomplish.

Joined Horse Husband Stables: January 13, 2026

Country Karma, known as CK, joined Horse Husband Stables after going through the Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale without a bid.

We were looking for a suitable companion for Thirteen and, after reviewing the day’s earlier results, noticed that CK had gone unsold. We visited him at the barn, spoke with Taylor Made Sales about the seller’s plans, evaluated him in person, and ultimately decided to bring him home.

By Country Grammer, CK shares a sire with Callie and became the second member of Country Grammer’s first crop to join the Class of 2025.

He is level-headed, social, and well balanced, with a steady temperament that helped him settle quickly into the herd.

Developmental X-rays have identified lesions in both stifles. The left stifle has improved markedly and is now nearly healed, while the right still requires close monitoring. CK is not currently lame or showing clinical discomfort, and we expect to make a final decision this fall about whether the right stifle will need arthroscopic treatment.

For now, he continues growing alongside the rest of the class as a potential racehorse with a particularly serendipitous path to Horse Husband Stables.

Lady Greyswan, known as Grace, is the third and final foal out of Lady Dyanaformer and represents the fourth generation of a family that has shaped Horse Husband Stables from the beginning.

Her story traces back through Dyana to Lady Macjazz, better known as Freja, the first horse owned by the founders of Horse Husband Stables. Grace is also a younger half-sister to Lord Paycasso and Lady Calliope.

Grace has developed into a confident, curious filly with a calm mind and a strong willingness to engage with people. She is often quick to understand what is being asked of her and has already shown a flair for posing whenever a camera appears.

In June, Grace injured the coronary band of her right front hoof. The area healed well with careful monitoring, and she remained comfortable and active throughout the process. As the hoof continues growing, we will keep watching for any lasting change associated with the injury.

Grace is growing quickly alongside Mia, and the two fillies have formed a close friendship. Although they are nearly the same age and size, Grace is already developing her own distinct build, personality, and way of approaching the world.

Miavanti, known as Mia, is the second foal raised at Horse Husband Stables out of My Audubon and a younger half-sister to Audacious Whysper.

Mia arrived only four days after Grace, giving the Class of 2026 two fillies growing side by side from their earliest days. Their weights and heights have remained remarkably close, even as their proportions and personalities have developed in noticeably different directions.

Mia is bold, affectionate, and highly people-oriented. She is often eager to investigate new things and has developed a reputation for being both confident and exceptionally cuddly.

She has also shown growing independence from her dam, Audi. Through brief, gradual separation exercises, Mia is learning that she can explore safely without remaining directly beside her mother at every moment. Those small lessons are intended to make future weaning feel like a natural progression rather than a sudden disruption.

Mia and Grace spend much of their time playing, resting, and exploring together. Their friendship has become one of the defining stories of the Class of 2026, even as each filly continues growing into a very different individual.

Empress Luciana, known as Luci, joined Horse Husband Stables as a broodmare prospect in 2022 after retiring from racing, where she made 24 starts and earned $65,089. She was purchased with the goal of contributing to the Foal to Forever program through breeding.

In 2024, Luci delivered her first and only foal, Emperor Caesarion (Caesar), via emergency C-section. Following his birth, she was retired from breeding and donated to Mareworthy Charities, where she now lives her next chapter.

Luci is part of The Originals because her story is inseparable from Caesar’s. Without her, the Class of 2024 would not exist as it does today.

Elusive Surprise, known as Surprise, joined Horse Husband Stables in 2024 in foal with a clear plan already in place: she would deliver her final foal and then retire from breeding. In 2025, she produced A Dozen and Won (Thirteen), her thirteenth and last foal.

Following weaning, Surprise was donated to Mareworthy Charities, where she now lives out her retirement. She is part of The Originals because her story reflects the core Foal to Forever commitment—intentional planning, lifetime accountability, and a dignified transition from production to permanent care.
